Paint a picture of me please
I can tell you have talent
Paint a picture of me
Before I am eclipsed completely
I’ve forgotten what it’s like not living in solitude
Boards on the windows, beams across the door
The light bulbs burned out years ago, the colour’s left the mirrors, they show me nothing anymore
I tried in these conditions penciling portraits of myself
Though I’ve forgotten half my face
The contours of my body, I can’t get the contrast right, they’re dark grey, close to black
Paint a picture of me please
I can tell you have talent
Paint a picture of me
Before I am eclipsed completely
Paint me a picture
Leave out some white
Leave in some space
Add the colour’s I vaguely remember
Show me my colour’s, you seem safe enough to show who I believe to be
As well as who I strive to be
To accept me at first
Tolerate me with time
Maybe love me eventually
